On Wednesday, April 3, the Spartan girls took on the Marian Crusaders in a tennis duel at Woods Tennis Center. East won the duel and maintained their undefeated streak for the season so far.

The meet started off great with some strong doubles matches. Gibby Chapman and Belinda Rademacher, who played 1 doubles, took an 8-1 win, gaining momentum for the rest of the evening. Stacia Jacobsen and Adeline Fornander kept the energy flowing with a tough battle in 2 doubles. The pair had a bumpy start, but brought it back with an 8-5 win. Stella Stempson and Briana Rademacher (3 doubles) and Tatum Lewis and Zoe Campbell (4 doubles) finished out the doubles matches strong with two more wins.

Heading into the singles matches, Briana Rademacher (1 singles) started the Spartans off with an incredible 8-1 win. Stella Stempson (2 singles) and Adeline Fornander (3 singles) both won their matches 8-3. It was a great meet for the Spartan girls and put the team in a great spot as they head into the rest of the season.

“We are so far undefeated and I’m really proud of everyone,” Stempson said.

East tennis definitely has a name to live up to. The girls were state champions in 2022 and state runner-up last year. It’s not going to be easy, but with how the Spartans have been playing recently, things are looking good for them.

“I think that the season has gone really well so far,” Rademacher, 2022 state singles champion, said. “I think all of the team is super supportive and we are all really encouraging.”
